Sunday, May 2
Today the guys went on their helicopter tour in Hilo which took about 3 hours to drive there. My sister and I took the trolley and walked through the town and browsed the shops. Didn't buy anything today. After the guys got back, we went to Quinn's (which was a seafood place that was very good) and ate and back to the condo. Some pictures from the helicopter.

Left the ship and got to the airport around 9:00 but our flight for Kona didn't leave until 3:00. After I got out of the cab and walked into the airport, I realized I left my tote in the cab. Made a couople of phone calls and they were finally able to track down the cab driver and after about an hour he returned with my bag. I tipped him very well as it had all our tickets, vouchers, jewelry, and lots of important info in it. Somebody was looking out for me. The flight to Kona only took about 30 minutes and got in our rental van and headed to our condo. Went to Kona Brewery for dinner and back to the condo.

Ship still docked in Kauai. Went to the mailing depot to mail some souveniers (20 lbs worth!). Did a little more shopping and sat on the beach for about an hour. Kauai has pretty beaches and it was nice just to sit and watch the waves come in and hear the sound of the waves. Had to get back to the ship by 1:00 as it was taking off at 2:00. Saw some pretty points from the ship. Napoli point which was just passing by the mountains but the cuts with the sun shining on them were picture perfect. Also got some pictures of the sun setting on the ocean. It is true that the water is so blue in Hawaii. The one picture is from the back of the ship where you can see how blue the water was and even the back splash from the ship is light blue. The picturess only show a small percentage of how beautiful it was. Ate dinner and watched the crew talent show and back to cabin to pack up.
Thursday, April 29
Ship was docked in Kauai. We were up early and left for an excursion to the Waimea Canyon. It was pretty breath-taking!. Saw lots of fruit trees - banana, papaya, flowers, corn fields, sugar can fields, black sand beaches (lava rocks). Stopped at spout point and that's where the waves come in and the water shoots up like a big spout and makes like a whale noise. Also you'll see a picture of the sea turtles as they were at spout point also. After the excursion we went back to the ship for lunch and then went to the mall. They said it was the biggest mall on the island but it was the smallest mall I've ever been to. Bought some more souveniers at K-Mart and went back to ship to watch a hula show.

Ship docked in Kona. No excursions today as that's where we will be staying the last three days. Walked into the town and bought some Kona coffee. Went to Hilo Hatties and bought some souveniers. Back on ship for lunch and then back out again for more shopping. Bought some unique pieces of jewelry and saw a bowl that I liked and may have to go back for when we stay in Kona. Back to the ship for a lobster/grouper dinner and the show for that night was a Magic show.
Also a few pictures of our "master suite bathroom" in our cabin!
Tuesday, April 27
Shipped docked in Maui. Did the "Best of Maui" excursion. Saw the mountains, Tropical plantation and last stop at the Maui Ocean Center. A few pictures of the red ginger flower, sugar canes and the piece of equipment is called a grabber and that's what they used to harvest the sugar cane. The tree with the fruit is a papaya tree. Went back on the ship for dinner and watched the duo again do a tribute to the Eagles (Desperado, Hotel California, etc, - great as usual).
Monday, April 26
Day at Sea. The husband wife duo did a tribute to Jimmy Buffet at the pool. The shipped passed by where they filmed Jurasic Park movie. Had dinner in the Liberty restaurant. After dinner we saw a comedy show performed by Second City and after that the duo did a tribute to the Beatles - songs like Hey Jude, Let it Be, I wanna hold your hand, etc. Of course growing up in these times, the show was very enjoyable.
